Reviewing Produce Display Promotions: Separate Display Changes, Stock Gaps and Completed Sales

A promotion needs more than a total sales figure. Record display changes, selling availability and completed sales consistently, distinguishing assortment, traffic and stock gaps before comparing results.

Define what the promotion changed

When a shop changes a fruit position, packaging and promotional offer together, total sales cannot isolate the effect of each change. Record the dates, participating products, sizes, selling units and actual changes first. Loose produce sold by weight and boxed products cannot be compared merely by counting units.

Retain the position and presentation history: a move from the side to the center, a second package size or an added similar product. Record what actually happened rather than reconstructing it from impressions. Photographs explain positions but do not prove all-day availability or replace sales records.

Keep comparison periods consistent

An ordinary trading period can provide context if records exist, but state opening hours, product sizes and the scope. Weekend and weekday totals, or full-day and half-day totals, are not automatically comparable. Identify data gaps instead of choosing an unusually weak day to support a desired conclusion.

Define the time window for sales per trading period and the included products for quantities per order. Handle returns, cancellations and other adjustments under the shop’s existing reporting rules, retaining an explanation. This guide proposes no universal promotion-return threshold or guaranteed equipment-driven sales increase.

Distinguish unavailable stock from a lack of purchases

An empty position can mean the promotional stock sold out or that stock remained in the back room awaiting replenishment. Record observed start and recovery times and identify uncertain periods. System inventory alone does not establish that a customer could retrieve the item at the relevant position.

Separate in-stock and unavailable periods to help interpret sales changes, but do not count hypothetical purchases during stock gaps as completed orders. Keep estimates distinct from observed transactions. If duration is unknown, retain that uncertainty rather than extending one photograph’s stock condition across an entire day.

Separate display issues from assortment issues

Observe whether products are easy to locate, packages obstruct neighbors or similar sizes are confused. Staff should record observed situations rather than guess customer motives. Low sales at one position may relate to size, availability or neighboring products; a number alone does not establish an ineffective location.

Keep the actual participating assortment beside observations so replacement products are not grouped under obsolete names. Note changes in traffic, opening arrangements or other promotions as context. Cabinet appearance, length and tiers are only part of the operating conditions and cannot explain every change alone.

Leave one testable question for the next change

Choose one well-documented issue for further observation, such as whether moving the same package makes it easier to locate. State other conditions, the observation period and the record owner. If price, packaging and position all change, acknowledge that the result alone cannot isolate their effects.

Return recommendations to the actual site: improve records first or discuss container fit and display space with the supplier. Confirm food-holding conditions, loading limits and equipment suitability from product requirements and model documentation. Sales review supports decisions; it does not replace food management or guarantee traffic, sales or profit.

Common promotion-review questions

Preparation and use questions

Does increased sales prove the display change worked? Check assortment, availability, traffic and other changes before making a causal claim. Can a review proceed without traffic counts? Yes, using real transactions and observations, while clearly stating the gap and avoiding invented conversion rates.

For supplier enquiries, bring product sizes, before-and-after position descriptions, representative packaging and confirmed issues, using public BAONIER product and category pages for context. The generated image illustrates display and record keeping, not real promotional data, customer results or suitability for storing every type of produce.
